The Management

We weren't born yesterday

Terra Madura is a private association managed by El Arquitecto Digital. Behind it are people who have spent decades doing the same thing in very different places: finding resources, spaces and areas that have come to a standstill, bringing together the people who care about them and getting them working again.

It isn't a trend. It's a trade.

From the sea of Chiloé to the huerta of València

In the early 2000s, on the remote islands south of Chiloé, in the waters of Desertores and Butachauques, there were wild beds of juliana clams and artisanal fishermen who brought them up by diving. Each on their own, in wooden boats built on the island, with no serious outlet for what they harvested. The resource was there. What was missing was organisation, a plant and someone to put in the means.

We brought the island fishermen and divers together, built a plant in Ancud designed for that one product, and went out to export under our own name: Martesano. Island people processing, certified quality, traceability and a product treated with the respect it deserves. The value stayed there, with the families of Ancud and the islands.

Twenty years later, in l'Horta Nord, the story repeats itself. Another continent, another product, the same problem. And the same answer.

This is how it worked in Chiloé: boat frames stitched by hand, oxen hauling the boats to the clam beds, diving at eleven at night, and a plant in Ancud so the juliana clam could go out under its own name. Swap the sea for the huerta and the clam for oranges and tiger nuts. The method is the same.

The same method, every time

  • 1

    We spot the opportunity

A quality resource, an idle space, an area left behind, or producers each working on their own.

  • 2

We bring together those who want the same

Growers, food makers, restaurants, neighbours and professionals. The people who want it to work.

  • 3

We put in the means and build it

Space, brand, platform, logistics and clear rules, so the value stays with those who produce and in the place itself.

What the Management does at Terra Madura

  • Runs the association, the platform and the Mature Spaces.
  • Talks to owners of warehouses and land, and to public bodies.
  • Never buys or sells the harvest: sales are between members.
  • The association lives on fees, spaces and advertising. Never on commissions.
